Two different questions
An ordered ladder can show which bid outranks another. It cannot explain what your partner intends by a call. That meaning depends on the system and agreements you are learning.
Make an agreement note
Record the system name and the source your teacher recommends. Put unfamiliar calls on a question list instead of assuming a familiar-looking number has the same meaning in every partnership.
Practise separately
Use the ladder for notation practice. Use a lesson or partnership discussion for meanings. Keeping the two tasks separate makes it easier to identify whether a mistake concerns the order of bids or their interpretation.
During competition
Follow the event’s disclosure and communication procedures. This original study suggestion does not authorise private signalling or resolve a disputed call.
